Product description
The TSUYOKI Sukari 50SS is a compact sinking minnow built for finesse jerkbait work. Its slim, rounded profile and small bill give it a tight wobble with a subtle side roll on the pause, mimicking the size and movement of shad or small baitfish that bass key on in clear water.
At 50mm and 5g it sinks at a controlled rate, running 0.8-1.5m deep on a standard retrieve. That makes it a strong choice for smallmouth bass working rock points, gravel flats, and clear reservoirs, and for largemouth holding tight to docks or sparse grass edges where a natural, small profile bait draws more bites than bulky crankbaits.
How to fish it
- Cast past the target area and let the bait settle to its running depth before starting the retrieve.
- Work it with short twitch-twitch-pause cadences to trigger reaction strikes from following bass.
- Fish it around rock points, gravel banks, and grass edges where smallmouth and largemouth hold tight to structure.
- Slow the retrieve and lengthen pauses in cold or clear water to let suspended bass commit to the bait.
Frequently asked
At 50mm it reads as a small baitfish, which works well for both species, but it is especially effective for smallmouth bass that key on smaller forage.
Bright or high-contrast finishes like the pink pattern shown work well in stained or low-light water, while more natural patterns suit clear conditions.
A light to medium spinning setup with 6-8 lb fluorocarbon gives good action and feel for a bait this size and weight.
It performs well in cooler months and clear water when bass want a smaller, slower-moving profile, and also works as a finesse option during post-frontal conditions.
