Product description

The Sasuck is a floating lipless minnow built for slashing, walk-the-dog style presentations. Its slim pencil profile and weighted tail give it a tight side-to-side wobble on twitch retrieves, and it sits high in the water column between pulls so bass have time to track it down before striking.

Available in 105mm/18g and 140mm/17g sizes, it covers everything from finesse walking baits for pressured largemouth to a longer profile that pike and seabass anglers also throw. Fish it over grass flats, along current seams, or across open water where bass are keyed on baitfish near the surface.

How to fish it

  1. Cast past visible cover or baitfish activity and let the bait settle before starting your retrieve.
  2. Use short, sharp rod twitches to make the lure walk side to side across the surface.
  3. Add pauses between twitch series, especially near current breaks or grass edges, to trigger reaction strikes.
  4. Speed up the cadence in warmer water and slow it down when bass are holding tight to structure in cooler conditions.

Frequently asked

The 105mm/18g version is easier to walk on lighter tackle and suits most largemouth and smallmouth situations. The 140mm size throws a bigger silhouette and works well when targeting larger fish or matching bigger baitfish.

Use natural, translucent patterns in clear water so the profile looks realistic, and switch to higher contrast or darker backs in stained or low light conditions so bass can track the bait more easily.

A medium action spinning or casting rod with 10 to 15 pound fluorocarbon or braid to fluorocarbon leader gives good control for walk-the-dog action without sacrificing hookset power on the trebles.

No, the floating minnow action and profile work well for largemouth and smallmouth bass too, particularly around grass edges, points, and open water where fish are feeding near the surface.
