Product description
The Armajoi Pencil is a three-section jointed swimbait built for topwater bass fishing. The floating body sits flush on the surface and the segmented tail kicks side to side on the retrieve, giving off a wounded baitfish silhouette that bass key on in shallow water. The flash finish throws light with every twitch, calling fish up from cover.
At 140mm and 22-25g it casts well on medium-heavy gear and holds a straight track during walk-the-dog retrieves. Use it over grass flats, along shallow points, and around laydowns when largemouth and smallmouth are feeding up top, especially in low light or during a topwater bite window.
How to fish it
- Cast past visible cover and let the bait settle before starting your retrieve.
- Use a twitch-twitch-pause cadence to make the jointed body walk and flash on the surface.
- Slow down the pause over deeper edges to let bass react and commit.
- Work it parallel to grass lines, laydowns, and shallow points where baitfish stage.
Frequently asked
At 140mm it matches a solid forage size and is built for keeper to trophy largemouth and smallmouth, not just small fish.
Use natural flash patterns like this silver and red in clear water, and switch to darker or more contrasted patterns when the water is stained.
A medium-heavy spinning or casting rod with 12-17 lb fluorocarbon or braid to leader gives good castability and control for walk-the-dog action.
Early morning, evening, and overcast days are prime, when bass are actively feeding near the surface in shallow water.
