Product description
This BEARKING minnow is a 12cm, 18g hard bait built with a slender jerkbait profile and a scaled, tiger-stripe finish that throws flash on every twitch. The tapered body and three-treble setup give it a tight wobble at rest and a darting kick on the pause, mimicking a wounded baitfish that bass find hard to pass up.
It works well for largemouth and smallmouth around points, laydowns, and grass edges where a subtle, erratic retrieve triggers reaction strikes. Fish it on a jerk-jerk-pause cadence in clear to lightly stained water, and let the pause do the work when bass are keyed in on suspended baitfish.
How to fish it
- Cast past the target area and let the bait settle for a second before starting your retrieve.
- Use a jerk-jerk-pause cadence, letting the bait dart side to side on each snap of the rod tip.
- Fish it around points, laydowns, and grass edges where baitfish are holding.
- Extend the pause when bass are following but not committing, especially in cooler water.
Frequently asked
At 12cm and 18g it is sized for average to larger largemouth and smallmouth bass, and works well as a searchbait or follow-up bait.
Brighter patterns like the orange and yellow tiger stripe shown here show up well in stained or off-color water, while more natural patterns suit clear conditions.
A medium-power spinning or casting rod with 10 to 15 lb fluorocarbon or 20 to 30 lb braid with a fluorocarbon leader gives good action and hookups.
It excels in cooler water during pre-spawn and fall when bass are chasing baitfish and responding to a slower, twitch-pause presentation.
