Uni Knot
The Uni Knot is a simple, strong knot used to tie line directly to a hook, lure, or swivel. It also works as a line-to-line connection, which makes it one of the most flexible knots an angler can learn. Many anglers rely on it as their main all-purpose knot because it holds well across different line types.
The knot works by wrapping the tag end around the main line several times before cinching it down into a tight coil. It performs well with monofilament, fluorocarbon, and braid, though braid usually needs a few extra wraps for a secure hold. Because it is easy to tie in low light or cold weather, it is a good choice for baits like jigs where quick re-tying matters.
- Wet the line before tightening to reduce friction damage.
- Use 5 to 7 wraps for mono or fluoro, and 7 to 9 for braid.
- Trim the tag end close after cinching for a cleaner cast.
