Soft Plastic
A soft plastic is a lure made from a flexible, stretchy material designed to mimic worms, craws, creatures, or baitfish. It has no built-in action of its own. Instead, it relies on the angler's rigging and retrieve to create movement in the water, which makes it one of the most versatile lure types in soft plastics. Anglers rig soft plastics in many ways depending on the situation. A weightless worm slides through grass without snagging, while a soft plastic on a jig head can be dragged along the bottom to imitate a fleeing craw. Bass often hold the bait longer than they would a hard lure, since the texture feels natural in their mouth. This gives anglers a better window to feel the bite and set the hook.
